Research Interests
I will be maintaining and updating the University of Minnesota's Continuous Forest Inventory dataset. Entries to this dataset have been made periodically for decades. Together, they represent a fantastic opportunity to compare actual forest growth versus predictive models and techniques.
About me
I am exceptionally boring! I like to spend time in the forest and mountains sightseeing and backpacking. When the weather is right I work as an on-call wildland firefighter with the Minnesota DNR and I'm also always looking for opportunities to participate in prescribed burning. I also enjoy adding to my collection of antique books.
Education
B.A. History, 2010, Concordia College, Moorhead, MN; B.S. Forest and Natural Resource Management, 2024, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Minneapolis, MN
Favorite tree:
My favorite non-native is definitely the Monkey Puzzle Tree, Araucaria araucana, and I'm always disappointed that they don't have the tolerance to live in Minnesota. My favorite native is definitely the Northern White Cedar, Thuja occidentalis, because they're always trying to make the worst places work.
