Influence of eastern spruce dwarf mistletoe on stand structure and composition in northern Minnesota

We examined black spruce stands with a range of eastern dwarf mistletoe infection levels. We found that infection by eastern dwarf mistletoe influences stand composition and structure and can lead in increased species diversity and richness in the overstory. As part of the natural disturbance regime of black spruce stands, eastern dwarf mistletoe can contribute to stand- and landscape-level diversity.
