Research Interests
My research interests include natural disturbance-based silviculture, natural regeneration, and interactions among regeneration, herbivores, and understory plant communities.
My current research projects include: (1) studying the interactions between vegetation, management, and forest type/productivity in peatland forests, (2) characterizing structure and composition, stand development, and management scale in floodplain forests of the Upper Mississippi River, and (3) analyzing the effects of biochar as a soil amendment on seedling growth, survival, and drought tolerance
When I'm not in the woods, I'm...
If I'm not in the woods for work, I'm probably still finding reasons to be outside. I enjoy, cross-country skiing, running, paddling, and biking. Indoors, I also enjoy cooking, baking, and reading.
