Research Interests
I'm interested in sustainable forest management in the anthropocene. Climate change, invasive pests, intensifying wildfires, and shifts in the way we use our land. How can we apply research in forest ecology and related fields to ensure the continued presence of healthy and productive forests on our landscape? My current research is focused on stand dynamics and management in the mixed wood forests of Northern Minnesota. I'm also passionate about the future of forestry as an inclusive and forward-looking discipline.
About me
I'm equal parts outdoorsy and indoorsy, with (a few) too many hobbies. I love cycling, photography, snowshoeing, backpacking, running, canoeing, and poking around the woods looking for cool insects and diseases. More than anything, I love to travel! On the other end of the spectrum, I enjoy cooking a good meal, fermenting a fun beverage, repairing broken things, audiobooks, crafting gadgets on my 3D printer, and vegging out on a favorite video game.
