Research Interests

I am interested in disturbance ecology and the silvicultural practices used to mitigate damage and achieve stability in a changing climate. My research looks at the possible benefits of using biochar as a soil amendment for seedling resilience in northern Minnesota.

About me

I am an avid skier, hiker, biker, antique/insect collector, and reader. Favorite pastimes include cooking my way through new cookbooks and hanging out with my cat Baloo!

Biography

Research Interests

I am primarily interested in the effects of climate change and management activities on biogeochemical cycles in northern forest soils and forested watersheds.

My current project looks at the impact of drought and snow reduction on soil operability, respiration, and nitrogen cycling in mature aspen stands.

When I'm not in the woods....

I enjoy hiking and camping in the north woods, reading fantasy and sci fi novels, and drinking lots of tea.
